Annual report design and editorial layout for SUSS IAL, turning a year of research and workforce impact into a clear, compelling corporate publication.
SUSS Institute for Adult Learning needed their 2025 Annual Report to do more than summarise a year of activity, it needed to make a genuine case for the impact of adult education in Singapore, to government stakeholders, industry partners and the public alike. We took on the project end to end: concept, design, editorial layout and copywriting, along with a set of supporting collaterals including EDMs, social media posts and web banners to extend the report’s reach beyond print. The cover sets the tone with “From Vision to Impact,” built around an illustrated letter A, standing in for both “Annual Report” and IAL’s own identity, constructed from the training, research and capability-building work the report goes on to detail. Small isometric figures climb, build and present around the letterform, a visual cue that impact here is made up of many people’s work, not a single achievement. Turning a Year of Data Into a Single Glance The opening spread needed to make a strong first impression with data, so we designed a dedicated ‘2025 at a Glance’ layout, pulling the report’s headline figures, training headcounts, research projects, consultancy work, into a scannable summary a reader can absorb in seconds, before they commit to the fuller narrative that follows. A parallel milestones timeline runs down the right-hand page, giving the year a clear chronological shape. The isometric illustration style established on the cover continues here, extended into training rooms, research desks and presentation scenes, so the data feels grounded in real activity rather than floating in the abstract. Editorial Layout Built for Dense Subject Matter Adult education policy is not naturally easy reading, so chapter dividers like this one were designed to give readers a clear breath between sections, a bold number, a short title and a single supporting illustration, before moving into denser content.
